v2.5.9

Xbox controllers can be hidden

Hiding your controller from games now works for Xbox and SCUF controllers, not just PlayStation ones. If a game kept reading your real controller instead of OmniControl, this is the fix.

Highlights

  • Xbox and SCUF controllers can now be hidden from games. Confirmed working on real Xbox hardware.
  • Drive a Controller now tells you when it is receiving nothing, instead of looking like it works.

Fixes

  • Drive a Controller could sit doing nothing with no explanation when it was linked to Native Input Mute and mute was off.

Hiding your controller stops a game reading your real pad alongside the one OmniControl creates, which is what causes double input and menus that respond to everything twice. Until now it only worked for PlayStation and other HID controllers. Xbox and SCUF owners got a message saying it could not be done, and two Pro features were effectively unusable for them.

That message was wrong. Xbox controllers can be hidden, and 2.5.9 does it. It has been confirmed working on real Xbox hardware, with the game reading OmniControl's output instead of the physical controller.

Note

Stop your output before hiding an Xbox controller. While OmniControl's own controller is active it looks identical to a real Xbox one, and OmniControl will not risk hiding the wrong device. The page tells you when this applies.

Drive a Controller says what is wrong

Drive a Controller has an option to link it to Native Input Mute, so your keyboard and mouse only drive the controller while mute is on. With that link enabled and mute off, every key press was dropped, silently, while the page still showed Drive as on. There was nothing anywhere to explain it.

Both pages now say so, and only while it is actually happening. The Keyboard & Mouse page also gained a small health readout showing whether input is arriving at all, so "it does nothing" is a question you can answer in a glance rather than a support ticket.
