Privacy Policy

OmniControl is a Windows desktop app for remapping controllers and emulating a virtual controller. This policy explains what we do and do not collect. The short version: your setup lives on your PC, and we keep the rest to the minimum needed to run accounts, sell the app, and support you.

The website

Most of the site is ordinary marketing pages you can read without an account. Signing in, the dashboard, public profiles and buying Pro are the parts that involve your data.

Cookies. We set one cookie, and only after you sign in: a session cookie holding your login token. It is httpOnly, host-only and Secure, so it cannot be read by scripts and does not follow you to other sites. It exists purely to keep you signed in. We set no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies.

Analytics. We measure how many people visit which pages, in two cookieless ways:

Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a cross-site profile.
Our own page counter. When you load a page, your browser tells our server the path you viewed, and our server sees your IP address and browser user agent. Those two values are hashed to work out whether you are a returning visitor within the day; we do not keep them in a form that identifies you, and we do not use them for advertising.

We also record one event when a purchase completes or a free trial is started, so we can tell how many sales and trials the site produced, and we count clicks on the free trial buttons by day, button and page. These are counts, not profiles.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

If you follow a link out to our Discord community or to our payment provider, those services have their own privacy practices, and we encourage you to read them.

If you make an account

An account is optional. The free tier of the app does not need one. If you create one, we store:

Your username and, if you provide one, your email address.
Your password, hashed. We never store or see the password itself, and we cannot recover it for you.
Your public profile. Accounts created from 2 September 2026 have one switched on, showing your handle, your badges, when you joined, and any packs you have published. Your email is never on it. You can switch it off at any time from the dashboard, and it disappears immediately.
Accounts created before that date remain private unless you turn a profile on yourself. We did not change the setting on an existing account, because it was off by default when you signed up and that was the promise made to you.
Your avatar and display name, if you choose to set them up. Neither is required, and a profile without them shows only your handle.
The devices you activate Pro on: a fingerprint derived from stable machine characteristics, a friendly label such as your PC name, and when each was last seen. This is what stops one licence being shared across unlimited machines, and it is why you can see and remove your own devices from the dashboard.
Login and security records, including the IP address a sign-in came from, kept so we can investigate account abuse.
The country your account was last used from, as a two-letter code. Our network provider tells our server which country the desktop app's connection comes from, and we keep that one code against your account so we can see where OmniControl is used. It is the country and nothing finer: never a city, a region or an address.
A free trial record, if you start one: when it started and when it ends, which button on the site you started it from, and the network range it was started from. While the trial runs, the app also tells us which features were used on which days, from a fixed list of eight such as keyboard and mouse, macros or Remote Play. It is the feature and the day and nothing else: never a game, an input or a window title. If you ask us to review a refused trial, the note you write is kept with the trial it is about. To keep trials to one per person, the record also holds your email address and the PC the trial runs on, each stored only as a keyed hash: a one-way code we can compare with another, but cannot turn back into the address or the device.

The desktop app

OmniControl runs locally on your machine.

Your controller mappings, sticks and triggers, motion settings, macros, overlay setup, and per-game profiles are stored on your device.
These configurations stay on your PC. We do not upload your profiles and we do not read your inputs off your machine.
The app writes a local diagnostic log on your PC so support questions can be answered. It stays on your machine unless you choose to send it to us, and it deliberately never contains your password, your licence key, or your session token.
The app talks to the network only for things you would expect: checking for updates, validating your Pro licence, and the features you explicitly use, such as browsing the pack catalog. The one addition is a free trial: while one is running, the app reports which features were used that day, as described above.

The app emulates a virtual controller through ViGEmBus. It contains no anti-cheat evasion.

Paying for Pro

OmniControl has a free tier and a paid Pro tier. Pro is a subscription, monthly or yearly, or Pro Lifetime, bought once, and existing Founders Lifetime owners keep their licence.

Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Your card details go to them, not to us. We never see or store a card number.
We store what we need to know that you are entitled: your purchase, your plan, and for a subscription, its status and renewal date.
If you bought with a licence key, we store a hash of the key rather than the key itself.
We do not use any of this for advertising.

Support and email

If you email playomnicontrol@gmail.com, we keep your message and email address so we can help you and follow up. Please share only what is needed to resolve your issue.

How long we keep things

Account data is kept while your account exists. Sign-in and security records are kept for a limited period and then age out. Analytics are aggregate counts with no personal record behind them. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your account data. One thing outlives a deleted account: its free trial record, kept without the account attached. That is the record described above with the account taken off it: its dates, the two hashes, the network range, the features it used, any review note and the username the trial was started under. It is kept so that deleting an account and making a new one does not give a second trial.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EU, you have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to how we use it.

Because your configurations live on your own PC, you can remove those yourself at any time by deleting them locally or uninstalling the app. You also have the right to complain to your data protection regulator; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
