Button icons you can read on every controller

OmniControl 3.5 makes the button icons on the overlay controller clear on every controller and theme, lets you pick their colour, shows painted colours true to the colour you choose, and adds a flat 2D controller style. Keyboard and mouse gets long press binds, and vertical aim now follows the Vertical slider.

v3.5.0 ·

Highlights

  • Button icons are clearly visible on every controller and theme, even while a button is pressed.
  • Choose your own icon colour on the Themes page, or leave it on Auto.
  • Painted colours show true to the colour you pick: white is white.
  • A new flat 2D controller style for the overlay.
  • A new OBS browser source with a truly transparent background.
  • Long press binds for keyboard and mouse: one tap holds the button for you.
  • Vertical aim follows the Vertical slider.

Button icons you can read

The symbols on the overlay controller are now clearly visible on every controller and every theme: the PlayStation shapes, the Switch and Xbox letters, and the arrows on the d-pad. They stay readable while a button is pressed, too.

  • Pick the icon colour. On the Themes page, Icon colour sets the colour of the symbols. It starts on Auto, which picks a colour that stays readable on the button for you.
  • True colours. A colour you paint on the controller now shows as the colour you picked. White is white, not grey.

A flat controller

Overlay Studio has a new Controller style: keep the 3D controller, or switch to Flat for a clean 2D drawing of your controller, on DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox, Switch and more. It is the same controller, with the same buttons lighting up as you press them.

A transparent overlay for OBS

Overlay Studio has a new OBS browser source in Overlay output. Turn it on, copy the link, and add it in OBS as a Browser source: the overlay sits over your game with a truly transparent background, with no window to capture and nothing to key out.

Keyboard and mouse

  • Long press. A bound key can now be a long press: one tap holds the button for a set time, then lets it go by itself. It is for games that want a button held, like going prone on a held crouch. Click the small mode label on a bound key to choose it, and set how long it holds with Long press time. Holding the key for longer keeps the button held.
  • Vertical aim follows the Vertical slider. Looking up and down now uses the Vertical setting as it should. If looking up and down feels slow next to turning, raise it.

Fixes

  • Holding a button now keeps it lit on the overlay controller for as long as you hold it.
  • The app no longer freezes when you press the Crosshair Toggle hotkey.
