Feedback with intent

OmniControl Haptics

Tune left and right rumble, build custom vibration effects with duration control, and test them live - saved per profile.

Controller haptics in OmniControl give you direct control over how your pad vibrates. Set the left and right motors independently, apply preset effects, or build your own timed vibration, then test it live and save it with the profile. Haptics is a free feature, so every user can tune controller rumble to taste with no upgrade.

Overview

Haptics controls the two vibration motors inside your controller. Most pads carry a heavier left motor and a lighter right motor, and OmniControl exposes both so you can dial in the exact rumble strength on each side. You can trigger preset effects, or define a custom vibration with its own duration for repeatable, precise feedback. A live test button plays the current settings on the real hardware immediately, so you tune by feel rather than by guesswork.

Your haptics setup is stored per profile. Each game or setup can carry its own rumble feel, and it loads with the rest of that profile's settings.

Why use it

Default rumble is a single fixed level that games send at full strength. That is fine until it is not: a controller with a worn motor buzzes unevenly, a late-night session needs the vibration turned down, or a specific title leans on rumble so heavily it becomes distracting. Controller haptics let you rebalance both motors, soften or strengthen the overall effect, and confirm the result on the hardware in one click.

Anyone who wants consistent, comfortable feedback benefits. Players reducing intensity for long sessions, users compensating for a weak or strong motor, and anyone building a specific rumble character for a profile all get direct control instead of relying on whatever the game decides.

Use cases

  • Turn overall rumble down for quiet or late-night play without muting it entirely, then keep it that way per profile.
  • Rebalance the left and right motors when one side feels weaker than the other, so vibration reads evenly across the pad.
  • Build a short custom vibration with a set duration as a repeatable feedback cue, and play it back with live testing until it feels right.
  • Save a stronger, more physical rumble to a driving or action profile and a lighter setting to a slower-paced one, so each loads automatically with its game.

Supported devices and compatibility

Haptics works across the supported controllers that expose vibration motors, connected over USB or Bluetooth: Sony DualSense, DualSense Edge, DualShock 4, and DualShock 3; Microsoft Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Xbox Elite Series 2; the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller; and generic HID gamepads. OmniControl reads each as a live 3D model, so you can confirm the device before you tune it.

Limitations

Haptics drives the standard rumble motors. It is separate from the DualSense adaptive-trigger resistance, which is edited in Adaptive Trigger Studio and, like the DualSense's other extras, requires a USB connection. Effect strength also depends on the physical motors in your specific controller, so the same settings feel slightly different across models.

Tips and best practices

Tip

Use the live test button after every change. Rumble is hard to judge from a slider alone, so play the effect on the real hardware, adjust the left and right motors separately, and save only once it feels right in your hands.

When you set rumble for a specific game, save it to that game's profile rather than changing a global default. Each profile carries its own haptics feel and loads it automatically.

Works with the rest of OmniControl

Haptics sits alongside the rest of the platform's feedback tools. Tune your pull weight and activation points in Trigger customization, watch every motor and input react on the Live Controller Viewer, and store your rumble feel with everything else in a profile. For every setting and the full walkthrough, read the Haptics documentation.
