Overview
A macro is a recorded sequence of inputs with the exact timing preserved between each event. OmniControl records controller input (buttons, sticks, and triggers), keyboard keys, and mouse actions including movement, all on one shared timeline. Playback runs the sequence back with that same timing, and you can play it once, a set number of times, on a loop, or hold-to-repeat. Speed is adjustable, so you can slow a delicate sequence down or run a routine faster than you could input it by hand.
You trigger a saved macro from a controller input, a keyboard key, or a mouse button. Because controller playback drives a virtual pad, OmniControl auto-enables Emulation when a macro plays back controller input, so you never have to arm it separately. Every macro can be hand-edited step by step, and macros import and export as files for backup or sharing.
Why use it
Some inputs are hard to perform consistently. A crafting rotation, a menu sequence, a weapon-swap-and-reload, or a fighting-game string all demand precise ordering and timing that is easy to fumble under pressure. A macro records the correct version once and reproduces it identically every time. That removes the execution variance and frees your attention for the parts of play that actually need it.

Supported devices and compatibility
Macros work with every controller OmniControl supports: Sony DualSense, DualSense Edge, DualShock 4, and DualShock 3; Microsoft Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Xbox Elite Series 2; the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller; and generic HID gamepads, over USB or Bluetooth. Controller playback presents input through a virtual Xbox 360 or DualShock 4 pad using the ViGEmBus driver, a separate one-click install from the Drivers card in Settings. Keyboard and mouse recording and playback do not depend on a specific controller. OmniControl runs on Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit.
Limitations
Macros are a Pro feature, along with macro binding. Playback that includes controller input reaches a game through Emulation, which is also Pro, so a macro that presses controller buttons in-game needs Emulation running (OmniControl starts it automatically for you). Macros do not read game state; they replay the exact input you recorded, so a sequence that depends on precise on-screen timing may need its playback speed adjusted or its steps edited if the game or your setup changes.
Tips and best practices
Record at a calm pace and trust the per-tick timing rather than rushing the capture. Keep each macro focused on one job so it is easy to rebind and edit later. Save macros inside the relevant game profile so the right set loads with each game.
Tip
After recording, open the macro and trim any stray inputs at the start or end before you bind it. A clean first and last tick makes hold-to-repeat and loop playback behave predictably, and it keeps the sequence from firing an unintended button when it begins.

Warning
OmniControl is built for single-player and controller-friendly games. It is not a tool for defeating anti-cheat, and kernel-level anti-cheat competitive shooters are out of scope by design. Do not use macros to gain an unfair advantage in online titles or to work around a game's rules. If a game blocks virtual controllers, that is expected behavior and OmniControl does not bypass it.
