Overview
Motion aiming reads the gyroscope inside a supported pad and converts its rotation into aim input. You choose how it engages: always-on, so the gyro is live whenever you are aiming, or hold-to-activate, so it only responds while you hold a chosen button. Sensitivity is adjustable, and the gyro input stacks on top of the right stick rather than replacing it. You use the stick for big movements and the gyro for fine correction in the same motion.
Motion smoothing filters small hand tremor so the crosshair stays steady, and motion calibration zeroes the sensor so a level controller reads as no rotation. A live motion visualiser shows the gyro output while you tune, so you can confirm the axes and sensitivity feel right before you play.
For emulators, OmniControl runs a DSU motion server that feeds gyro data to titles that read it, and the Dolphin bridge passes motion through to a Wii Remote or GameCube controller. That makes gyro-driven aiming and steering work in emulated games as well as native ones.
Why use it
Thumbsticks trade speed against precision. Turn sensitivity up and flicks are fast but twitchy; turn it down and aim is steady but slow. Gyro aiming breaks that trade. Because sensitivity stacks on top of the stick as correction, you keep the stick for gross aim and add the gyro for the last few degrees, landing on target faster than a stick alone. Anyone who wants tighter aim without switching to keyboard and mouse benefits, from shooter players to precision platformers.

Supported devices and compatibility
Motion aiming needs a controller with a gyroscope. Supported pads that carry one include the Sony DualSense, DualSense Edge, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Connect over USB or Bluetooth, and each pad shows as a live 3D model with a motion visualiser you can watch while tuning.
On the DualSense, gyro and motion come over USB only. Connected over Bluetooth the DualSense does not expose its gyro, though standard remapping and emulation still work on that connection. If motion is not responding on a DualSense, switch it to a USB cable first.
Limitations
Motion output is a correction layer, not a full replacement for stick aim, so you still rely on the right stick for large turns. Gyro requires a pad that actually has the sensor; a controller without a gyroscope cannot drive motion aiming. And for the DualSense specifically, the gyro is unavailable over Bluetooth, so a wireless DualSense will not report motion until you connect it by cable.
Tips and best practices
Run motion calibration on a flat, still surface before your first session so a level controller reads as zero rotation. Start sensitivity low and raise it gradually; gyro correction needs far less travel than a stick, and a little smoothing removes tremor without adding lag.
Tip
Bind motion to hold-to-activate on your aim button rather than always-on. You get stick speed for movement and repositioning, and the gyro only engages for the precise shot, which keeps casual camera control from feeling twitchy.

Motion aiming pairs naturally with stick tuning: shape your right-stick response for large turns and let the gyro handle fine correction on top. Warning
OmniControl is built for single-player and controller-friendly games. It is not a tool for defeating anti-cheat, and kernel-level anti-cheat competitive shooters are out of scope by design. Presenting a virtual device through ViGEmBus is device-level plumbing, not an injector, but that does not exempt any title's rules. If a game blocks virtual controllers, that is expected and OmniControl does not bypass it.
