Stick Studio is the analog stick tuning workspace in OmniControl. It shapes how your thumbstick position becomes in-game movement and aim, from basic deadzones and sensitivity through to a hand-drawn response curve per stick. The result is a stick that reacts the way you want: no dead center wobble, no snap-back overshoot, and a curve that matches how you actually aim.

Overview

Stick Studio reads the raw position of each stick and lets you reshape it before it reaches the game. A live stick trace draws your real movement inside the workspace, so every adjustment is something you can see rather than guess at.

The core controls cover the full path from hardware to output. Set an inner deadzone to ignore center drift, an outer deadzone to reach full tilt sooner, and anti-deadzone to skip a game's own built-in dead center. Anti-snapback smooths the flick that some sticks produce on release. Sensitivity, vertical scale, rotation, and max output reshape the range and direction of travel, and square stick mode changes how the diagonal corners are mapped. On top of the basics, a response curve controls acceleration across the whole range: pick a preset, or in Stick Studio draw a custom curve by hand.

Basic tuning is free. Deadzones, sensitivity, travel, and snap cost nothing and need no account. Custom hand-drawn stick curves are the Pro part of Stick Studio, layered on top of the free controls rather than replacing them.

Why use it

Sticks are analog, but every game interprets them differently, and every physical stick has its own drift and feel. Stick Studio gives you one place to correct both. If your aim feels twitchy near the center, a curve that eases the low end fixes it. If the stick drifts at rest, an inner deadzone removes it. If a game refuses to register small tilts, anti-deadzone pushes past its floor. Casual players get a stick that stops fighting them. Precision players get controller customization down to the shape of the curve.

Use cases

  • Kill center drift on a worn stick with a tight inner deadzone, then verify it in the live trace.
  • Draw a slow, flat low-end curve for long-range aiming so small movements stay small.
  • Use anti-deadzone to defeat a game's own large built-in dead center that makes aim feel sluggish.
  • Apply rotation and vertical scale to compensate for a stick that reads slightly off-axis.
  • Save one stick feel per game as part of a profile so each title loads its own curve.

Supported devices and compatibility

Stick Studio works with every controller OmniControl reads: DualSense and DualSense Edge, DualShock 4 and DualShock 3, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Xbox Elite Series 2, the Switch Pro Controller, and generic HID gamepads. Stick tuning uses standard input, so it works over both USB and Bluetooth on any supported pad. Requires Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.

Limitations

Stick tuning reshapes the input, but it reaches a game through Emulation, which is a Pro feature. A free user can build and preview a full stick setup, and it takes effect in-game once Emulation is running. Tuning also cannot repair a stick with true hardware failure; it corrects drift and feel, not broken potentiometers. Run Calibration first so your curves sit on top of a clean, drift-corrected baseline.

Tips and best practices

Adjust one control at a time and watch the live trace between changes. Start with deadzones, then sensitivity, then the curve last, since a curve behaves differently once the deadzones underneath it are set.

Tip

Set your inner deadzone just past where the live trace stops wandering at rest, and no further. An oversized deadzone feels responsive at first but quietly eats the small, precise movements that matter most for aim.

Stick Studio is one layer of a complete controller platform. Pair it with Calibration to remove hardware drift before you tune, with Trigger Studio to shape trigger feel the same way, and with Motion aiming, which stacks gyro correction on top of your right stick. Warning

OmniControl is built for single-player and controller-friendly games. It is not a tool for defeating anti-cheat, and kernel-level competitive shooters are out of scope by design. Emulation presents a genuine virtual device through ViGEmBus, but that does not exempt any title's rules. If a game blocks virtual controllers, OmniControl does not bypass it.
