Adaptive Trigger Studio
The Adaptive Trigger Studio turns your DualSense L2 and R2 into programmable resistance surfaces. You paint a resistance profile across each trigger's travel, preview it on the real pad, and save it to a game profile.
Overview
Adaptive triggers are the motorized resistance that Sony built into the DualSense L2 and R2. Instead of a plain analog pull, each trigger can push back at specific points, so the pull can feel like a bowstring drawing tight, a weapon locking at a wall, or a click that resists then releases.
OmniControl exposes that hardware through a zone-based editor. You set how much resistance the trigger applies at each point along its travel, from rest to fully pressed. You can shape L2 and R2 independently, start from a preset, or draw your own feel from scratch. Everything previews on the physical controller as you edit, so you tune by feel rather than by guessing at numbers.

How it works
Each trigger's travel is divided into zones. A zone holds a resistance value, and the studio reads those values left to right to build the full resistance curve the DualSense motors follow. Low values leave the trigger loose. High values make it push back hard. A sharp jump from low to high creates a wall the finger has to break through.
You edit with three tools. Paint sets resistance across the zones you drag over. Smooth blends neighboring zones so the transition between them is gradual instead of stepped. Clear resets zones back to no resistance. Because L2 and R2 are edited separately, you can give a two-handed layout different feel per trigger, then use Copy L to R to mirror one side onto the other when you want them matched.
Adaptive-trigger resistance is set on the controller itself, so it works the same whether you are using OmniControl's other features or not. The saved feel travels with your game profile alongside your trigger tuning and the rest of that profile's settings.
DualSense over USB only
Adaptive triggers are a DualSense feature and require a wired USB connection. Over Bluetooth the DualSense extras, including adaptive triggers, the touchpad, gyro, and lightbar, are not available. Standard remapping and emulation still work over Bluetooth.
Getting started
Connect a DualSense over USB
Plug a DualSense or DualSense Edge into a USB port. Confirm it appears in the Live Viewer so you know the extras are active.
Open the Adaptive Trigger Studio
Select the trigger you want to shape, L2 or R2. The zone editor shows the trigger's travel from rest to full press.
Load a preset or start blank
Pick a preset such as Weapon or Bow to start close to the feel you want, or clear the trigger and build from nothing.
Paint your resistance
Use Paint to raise resistance across a range of zones. Add a wall by jumping from low to high resistance at one point. Use Smooth to soften a transition and Clear to reset a section.
Preview on the hardware
Pull the real trigger while you edit. The live preview drives the DualSense motors so you feel every change immediately.
Match the other trigger if needed
When both triggers should feel identical, use Copy L to R to mirror your profile onto the other side.
Save it
Save the feel to your profile, or save it as your own preset so you can reuse it. Import and export let you share profiles between machines.
Common use cases
A weapon trigger uses a hard wall partway through the pull, so the trigger resists at the aim point and gives when the shot fires. The Weapon and Hard Stop presets are built for this.
A bow or tension effect ramps resistance up smoothly as you pull, so the trigger fights back more the further you draw. The Bow and Ramp presets model this.
A click effect resists briefly then releases, useful for menus, gear shifts, or any action that benefits from a tactile confirmation. The Click and Pulse presets cover this feel.
A uniform effect applies steady resistance across the whole pull, which adds weight to acceleration or throttle inputs. Start from the Uniform preset.
Best practices
Start from the preset closest to what you want, then adjust. The seven presets, Uniform, Hard Stop, Ramp, Bow, Weapon, Click, and Pulse, cover most feels and save you from building every profile by hand.
Place walls where the in-game action happens. For a shooter, put the wall where the shot fires so the resistance reinforces the moment. For a racing throttle, keep resistance smooth so it does not fight your foot at speed.
Keep a library of your own presets. Once a trigger feel works for a genre, save it and reuse it across profiles instead of rebuilding it per game.
Pair adaptive triggers with your trigger tuning. Adaptive-trigger resistance is about how the pull feels; where the pull registers as input is set in the Trigger Studio. Set activation points and curves there, then shape the resistance here so the wall lines up with the actuation point.
Tips
Line up the wall with the actuation point
A weapon feel works best when the resistance wall sits exactly where the trigger fires in-game. Set your activation point in the Trigger Studio first, then paint the wall at the same point here so the push-back and the shot happen together.
Use Smooth after Paint. Painting fast tends to leave small steps between zones. One pass of Smooth turns a jagged curve into a clean ramp without changing the overall shape.
Save before you experiment. Export a profile you like before trying a big change, so you can import it back if the new version feels worse.
Troubleshooting
The Adaptive Trigger Studio is greyed out or the preview does nothing. Confirm the DualSense is connected over USB, not Bluetooth. Adaptive triggers are unavailable over Bluetooth. Check the controller setup guide if the pad is not detected.
The feel does not carry into a game. Adaptive-trigger resistance is applied to the controller hardware and works independently, but the trigger input reaching a game goes through Emulation, which is Pro. Make sure your profile is active and, if the game needs a virtual pad, that Emulation is running.
Both triggers feel wrong after copying. Copy L to R overwrites the right trigger with the left profile. If you meant to keep the right side, reload the profile or re-import your saved version before saving over it.
The controller vibration and the trigger resistance interfere. Trigger resistance and haptics are separate systems on the DualSense. If a rumble effect is masking the trigger feel, tune the vibration level in the Haptics page.

Anti-cheat boundary
OmniControl is built for single-player and controller-friendly games. It is not a tool for defeating anti-cheat, and kernel-level anti-cheat competitive shooters are out of scope by design. Adaptive-trigger resistance is hardware feedback on the DualSense and changes nothing about the input a game receives, but it does not exempt any title's rules. If a game blocks OmniControl's virtual controller, that is expected and OmniControl does not bypass it. Never use OmniControl to evade anti-cheat.
