Installation

OmniControl installs as a standard Windows desktop app and bundles everything it needs to present a virtual controller to your games. This page walks you through system requirements and the install itself.

System requirements

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.
  • A controller connected over USB or Bluetooth, or a keyboard and mouse if you plan to use Keyboard & mouse mode.

The installer sets up two things: the OmniControl app and the ViGEmBus kernel driver. ViGEmBus is what lets OmniControl present a virtual Xbox 360 or DualShock 4 to your games, so the game sees a genuine device rather than an injector. You do not need to install it separately.

Install OmniControl

1

Download the installer

Download the installer from your OmniControl account. The free tier covers core remapping and emulation, so you can start without a purchase.

2

Run the installer

Open the downloaded file and follow the prompts. The installer sets up OmniControl and installs the ViGEmBus driver at the same time. Windows may ask you to approve the driver installation - accept it, since emulation will not work without it.

3

Launch OmniControl

Start OmniControl from the Start menu or desktop shortcut. On first launch it detects any connected controllers and shows each pad as a live 3D model.

4

If you have a Pro license, sign in so your entitlement is applied. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. The free tier does not require an account for core features.

Signed in-app updates

Updates are delivered inside the app and are cryptographically signed. When a new version is available, OmniControl prompts you - you do not need to download installers manually after the first setup.

Verify the install

Open OmniControl and confirm your controller appears as a live 3D model. If it does not show up, check the cable or Bluetooth pairing and see Troubleshooting.

Anti-cheat boundary

OmniControl is built for single-player and controller-friendly games. It is not a tool for defeating anti-cheat, and kernel-level anti-cheat competitive shooters are out of scope. Emulation, remapping, and keyboard and mouse mode are meant for games that welcome controller input.

Next steps

With OmniControl installed, connect your pad and set it up in Controller setup. From there you can explore Emulation and Remapping.
