FAQ
Short answers to the questions people ask most often. Follow the links for the full guides and step-by-step setup.
What is OmniControl?
OmniControl is a Windows 10/11 desktop app for two jobs: remapping controllers and emulating virtual ones. You can remap any button, stick, trigger, or paddle to any input, key, mouse action, or macro, and you can present a virtual Xbox 360 or DualShock 4 to any game. Emulation runs through the ViGEmBus kernel driver, so the game sees a genuine device, not an injector. See Remapping and Emulation.
Which controllers are supported?
DualSense and DualSense Edge, DualShock 4 and 3, Xbox Series, One, 360, and Elite Series 2, Switch Pro, and generic HID pads. Connect over USB or Bluetooth, and OmniControl shows the pad as a live 3D model. Gyro aiming and DualSense adaptive-trigger effects come over USB. Full walkthrough in Controller setup.
How does keyboard and mouse mode work?
Keyboard & Mouse mode drives a virtual pad from your keyboard and mouse: W+A+S+D maps to the left stick, the mouse to the aim stick, and keys to buttons, triggers, or macros. Aim tracking depends on a one-time, timing-free turn-match calibration:
Line up a landmark
Turn one full circle
It locks your turn rate
See Keyboard & mouse for Play Mode and the rest.
Will OmniControl get me banned?
Anti-cheat boundary
OmniControl is built for single-player and controller-friendly games. It is not a tool for defeating anti-cheat. Kernel-anti-cheat competitive shooters are out of scope, and running OmniControl with them may risk your account. Use it where controller input and remapping are allowed.
Emulation presents a real virtual device rather than injecting into a game, but that does not exempt any specific title's rules. When in doubt, check the game's policy first.
Is OmniControl free?
The free tier covers core remapping and emulation. Pro is a one-time purchase with no subscription. You can start on the free tier and upgrade later.
What do I need to run it?
You need 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. Run the installer, which sets up both OmniControl and the ViGEmBus driver it uses for emulation. Updates are signed and delivered in-app, so you do not reinstall to stay current. See Installation.
